  • Stay focused, stay obedient

    2020 has brought just about 3 years worth of trouble.A year that will go down in the history books as one of the craziest years and will have the jaws of our children’s dropping as we retell the tales.

  • God is speaking

    We have an amazing privilege to be partners with what God desires to do in the earth in this time but it calls for a greater sensitivity to His will and instructions.

  • Death, the harsh teacher

    “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom”(Psalm chapter 90, verse 12).This is one of my favourite scriptures  because it is an extremely sobering gem.

  • Willing yet weary

    I am a 25 year old often feeling like I’m trapped in an 80 year old’s body. This is largely due to my lack of exercise and sedentary lifestyle, but it’s also coupled with the fact that I battle with genuinely wanting to do nothing, all the time.

  • Understanding God

    Let me preface this piece by saying I don’t know! There are a myriad of questions that I think naturally arise from the title and I just want to put it out there that I do not know.

  • Fear God and keep His commandments

    My church’s youth group embarked on a 40 day devotional experience called the “Seek Him Challenge.” The challenge was created to encourage youth to develop a habit of pursuing intimacy with God. The challenge had a few stipulations, one of which was to have your first and last interaction for the day be time spent with God.

  • Jesus, the hopium (opium) of the people

    Karl Marx, philosopher and sociologist is renowned for saying about religion that “it is the opium of the people.” I studied a bit of Sociology in both high school and university, and unfortunately this man’s life’s work was reduced in my memory to just this statement. An opium or opiate is essentially a depressant drug, used to relieve pain and this is what he compared the functional role of religion to.

  • Glory over comfort

    The western hemisphere is notorious for the defence of our comfort. If anything  comes in the way of our happiness it must be demolished! This dream is marketed to us from a tender age and has become almost synonymous when we speak of the meaning and purpose of life, afterall we’re told our happiness and well being are why we are here.

  • Balancing Act

    I don’t necessarily make it my duty to vocalize my opinion on world issues. I don’t particularly know if that’s a good or a bad thing. It’s just that if I’m to appoint myself as a member of the “voice of reason initiative,” I’d like to not be two-faced and wavering in my convictions.
