    Diamonds are just not for show unless you’re a James Bond movie advocate, to know that diamonds are valuable, I should say ‘really’ valuable. There is always a girl. I should say a really ‘attractive’ girl who likes diamonds. A great truth - we are all fascinated by diamonds.

    Eternity magazine (foundation editor John Sandeman) has been awarded the 2020 Gutenberg on Friday 30 October, the premier award of ARPA  -  Australasian Religious Press Association, the golden logies of Christian press media.

  • 2021 ready for young writer operations  

    Some new exciting things are happening in 2021 two of which are the development of the Kiwi young writers and the international young writers into separate young writer ministries from Press Service International.

    We can look back with some humour when The Age’s Michael Gordon ran a fascinating piece on the 10 Commandments for a new PM (in Australia - we’ve had plenty of them in the past decade).

  • Weird and wonderful

    Yes, I can remember, at seminary 43 years ago we turned our attention in one semester to culture and Christianity in the light of world missions and noticed how experienced and wise missionaries regularly worked within cultural norms rather than trying to inset western culture.

  • Railway track maintenance

    Weekend railway line repairs are critical to the running of our railways – city and bush. In my archive I found a News.com article gave a fresh voice to the public alarm when so many rail lines get closed at weekends and even surprisingly in peak hour time slots for track maintenance.

  • Bush fires

    One thing on our mind are bush fires after last summer. Bushfires have already been in the news in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. This is repeated again and again year after year. Bush fires struck the Midge Point area in early October where the Laguna Quays Respite cottage is located.   

  • Marriage  -  what it might be

    Marriage has many reflections. Statistics can be very revealing and the Huffington Post article not long ago on Australian marriage stats gave rise to me pondering whether marriage is in many cases is – wait for it - conspiratorial.

  • The Vicar of Digby alive and well  

    Entertaining items are worthy of air time. The late Dan Wooding of Assist News Service who was Christian media veteran and always on the pulse. One of the more entertaining stories he published was how The Twurch of England runs a poll for the Vicar of the Year.

  • Laguna Quays Respite double bookings

    The Whitsundays Laguna Quays Respite coordinated by Well-Being Australia for missions is celebrating the third quarter of 2020. Qld borders are now open for all but Sydney, mid NSW and Victorians.
