Saluting Returned Diggers – ‘A Good’

Saluting Returned Diggers – ‘A Good’

The commemoration of the end of WWI is coming up – 11 November 2018. The poems (below) commemorate all the returned servicemen who have done their bit to help defend our country; particularly those who have had problems fitting into that very society that they helped to defend..

  • The Start of Humility

Famous entertainers, pumping sports stars, audacious politicians and the love of honour are characteristic our time. Amongst us, many pastors suffer from this sort of spiritual disease, “when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are not wise” (2 Corinthians chapter 10 verse 12).

  • Christian Beliefs and the UK Doctor

An article in the English Sunday Telegraph a couple of months ago grabbed my attention and I summarise it here (I am a former journalist and instructed journalist cadets).

  • They Backed Their Own

The 1970's Dad's Army British television hit series has many telling lines, not least the very first program titled 'The Man and the Hour' where the opening scene has a post war function celebrating the launch of the 'Back Britain' campaign.

  • 2018 Annual Young Writer Awards Announced on Saturday

The Press Service International young writer program in conjunction with Christian Today annual awards for the young writers will be held on Saturday in Christchurch at the Salvation Army Centre in Colombo Street.

  • The Idea of Genius

Those who experience creative flow are remarkable. Something that writers would call the opposite of "writers block". • The Constant Comparison

Have you ever read something that left a profound impact on your life?

  • Weaponising Our Mistakes

When Marvel first announced that they were making a movie based on what were a relatively obscure bunch of characters called the Guardians of the Galaxy, I was one of many people who were baffled at the choice, and thought even Marvel would struggle to find a way to make it yet another box office hit.

  • Heroes All

After the incredibly successful completion of an extremely dangerous rescue mission involving massive detailed planning and effort by rescuers, it is disappointing when the hero(es) are not immediately and lavishly praised.

  • 2018 Remembers 100 Years Ago - Events that Led to the Great War

In all, 62,000 Australians and 18,000 New Zealanders died fighting during World War I, 1914-18, from respective populations of 4.5 million and 1.1 million.

  • Member of a Church Without Being Part of a Community? Bad Idea!

Surprisingly, I have met a lot of Christians who are members of a church yet they are not really mingling along with their fellow church members. Some of them have been a member for quiet a number of years yet they keep a good distance getting involved socially with the church, even in fellowship.

  • A Highly Significant Symbol is the Olive Tree

The unique connection between Jews and Christians is sometimes a fierce debate but the Bible indicates our relationship is found in the symbol of the olive tree.
