The upcoming American political drama television series 'Designated Survivor' spoilers revealed that Ashley Zukerman, of 'Manhattan' fame has been cast as Congressman Peter MacLeish.
The 33 year old Zukerman played Dr. Charlie Isaacs in Manhattan and also starred in the Australian political thriller 'The Code'.
It is one of the most anticipated television series which will premiere on September 21, 2016 at 10 pm.
The faces added in the first promo released by the network include Kiefer Sutherland playing the new President Tom Kirkman, Natascha McElhone as Jessica as Kirkman's wife, Maggie Q as an FBI agent Hannah Watts, and Kal Penn as Seth Wheeler, the president's speechwriter.
MacLeish as a character will be the youngest congressman of the United States and is defined as an admired third-term legislator from Oregon. There might be some action included with this role as the spoilers suggest that after an attack on Washington, Zukerman's character is going to rise as a "national hero".
But the spoilers also gave a little information about the young politician that he is not as good as he seems, and is harboring a "dark secret."
The Australian actor seems to have mastered the art of acting in serious roles, thus, his casting has not come as a surprise. He received an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA) award for Best Lead Actor in a Television Drama in 2014 for The Code.
Designated Survivor will tell the story of Tom Kirkman, a former United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and also the "designated survivor", who is sworn as the President after an explosion killed the present President and all the other members of the cabinet.
