The tradition of watching 'The Nutcracker' every Christmas is delightful and when Disney takes up the job, it is almost certain to be no less than marvelous. Topping it is the confirmation that 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star Keira Knightley will join as the Sugar Plum Fairy in Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.
EW confirmed the news that the 31 year old actress will be added in the cast of the live-action version of the 1816 E.T.A. Hoffman's The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.
Nutcracker tells the heartwarming and exciting tale of a girl namedClara gifted with a wooden nutcracker carved in the shape of a little man, primarily for cracking nuts on Christmas Eve. The doll comes to life and defeats the evil Mouse King. The Sugar Plum Fairies first appeared during the Nutcracker Suite in 'Fantasia'.
Disney made things more exciting by making it a seven-headed Mouse King.
According to EW, Mackenzie Foy is going to play Clara. Other confirmed cast include Misty Copeland playing the lead ballerina role in the sole dance sequence in the film. She shared the news on Instagram, writing "I'm thrilled to be a part of this amazing project with Disney and the wonderful Lasse Hallstrom."
79 year old Morgan Freeman has also reportedly bagged the role of Drosselmeyer, the local councilman, magician, Clara's godfather, and also a toymaker who ultimately gives the nutcracker toy to Clara.
The film with an unannounced release date as of yet will be directed byLasse Hallström with new entrant Ashleigh Powell's script.
