This news will make any Marvel fan jump with excitement. According to reports, Netflix may have accidently let slip a clue about 2017 being the release date of 'The Punisher' season 1.
If this is the case, then it seems fans will get three Marvel Netflix treats in 2017 - Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher.
The Punisher appeared in the web television series 'Daredevil' season 2 as the gun totting one man army. Jon Bernthal played the role exceptionally adding to the popularity meter of the character among viewers.
According to Heroic Hollywood, a Redditor posted a screenshot of the Netflix app which showed a synopsis of the series along with the release date 2017.
"After the murder of his family, Frank Castle is both haunted and hunted. In the criminal underworld, he'll become known as The Punisher," reads the bio.
Though there has been no official confirmation from Netflix, they follow the pattern of giving a bit of information one year prior to the release of any show, so fans are definitely crossing their fingers.
One of the major problems can be Netflix's 'two-a-year' pattern which means no more than two Marvel Netflix show per year.
"I think ideally there will be a rhythm of about every six months you'll get a new season or a new series from the Defenders group," said Ted Sarandos, Netflix's Chief Content Officer to Variety.
"And then they'll crossover into a combined [Defenders] season once we've launched the first season of each of the four characters."
