You don’t need to go to an Art School to be an artist. This photograph is over 20 years old and yet still says as much today as the day I shot it.
I didn’t carve the I heart U into the moss on the rock on the beach at Wollongong on the NSW coast. Someone else unknown to me did that. As I walked by, I don’t know how much later, I saw it and photographed it. Years later I wrote a poem for someone and paired the two together in my collection The Bard from Ballarat Volume Two.
With February being the month of love it felt a good time to share this one with you. If you don’t currently have a valentine don’t allow that to stop you sharing love with others, as the mystery person who carved the I heart u into the mossy rock has now done via my photograph, with people around the world.
