Manchester City were back at home on Saturday as they comfortably took all 3 points with a 3-1 win defeating Watford. City were controversially awarded the lead after what looked like a clear offside resulted in Sterling scoring just after half time.
Sterling then continued his impressive form to complete a hat trick as City maintained their lead at the summit of the Premier League table.
Liverpool stayed hot on the heels of City, with an emphatic 4-2 win at home to Burnley. Burnley took an early lead as the keeper was adjudged not to have been fouled from a corner, only to reply shortly after with 2 quick goals.
The second half saw much of the same as Liverpool wrapped up the points for the hosts.
Super Sunday’s other fixtures saw United come crashing down to earth with a 2-0 loss away at the Emirates to inform Arsenal. In a massive crunch match between the sides all competing for the lucrative Champions League positions,
Arsenal gained the upper hand as they go 4th, 1 point behind Spurs in 3rd and 2 points clear of United in 5th however Chelsea have a game in hand who are 3 points adrift. An enthralling final 8 matches awaits between the 4 clubs all fighting for the final 2 positions on offer in the Champions League.
Saturday’s early kick off hosted the south London derby of Crystal Palace & Brighton. With both teams desperate for the points it was the away team Brighton winning 2-1, putting them level on 33 points with Palace & 5 points ahead of the relegation zone.
Fellow strugglers Southampton pilled misery on Spurs with a much needed win – whilst Cardiff also gave their fans hope with a 2-0 win at home to West Ham.
Leicester City won 3-1 at home to nearly relegated Fulham whilst Huddersfield are almost certainly down losing 2-0 at home to Bournemouth.
Newcastle also dragged themselves away from the danger zone with another impressive performance, this time accounting for Everton with a 3-2 win at St James’s park.
