Super Sunday witnessed the highly anticipated Liverpool V Man City showdown at Anfield that some believe defined the season.
Liverpool were simply to strong, going 2 goals ahead inside 13 minutes before putting a 3rd in just after half time before City got a conciliation goal with 12 minutes left of the match.
The win for Liverpool extends their lead to 8 points with City dropping to 4th in the table whilst many now have Liverpool as firm favourites to lift their first championship in over 30 years.
Saturday’s early kick off was an all London affair with Chelsea hosting Crystal Palace. The Derby was hotly contested with Chelsea hitting form over the past month & Palace also having some positive results.
Chelsea were to strong at the Bridge with a comfortable 2-0 win with both goals coming after the break to send Chelsea into the top 3 before the other fixtures commenced.
Leicester City went 2nd on the Premier League table on Saturday after another victory, putting the Premier League on notice and showing they are a serious threat, defeating Arsenal 2-0.
Vardy was again on target taking his tally to 10 for the season & the ever-impressive Maddison also got on the score sheet as Leicester recorded their 8th win of the season after 12 fixtures. Arsenal slipped further down the table as many question marks remain over the quality of their squad.
Other fixtures on the weekend saw many matches with interesting results up and down the country. Watford went away to Norwich in a relegation 6 pointer, with Watford moving off the bottom of the table for the first time this year – winning 2-0 away from home on Friday night.
Burnley continued their impressive start to the season with a commanding 3-0 win at home to a disappointing West Ham. Newcastle were to strong at home for Bournemouth winning 2-1 whilst Everton won away at Southampton 2-1.
Spurs were held 1-1 at home to Seff United – continuing their poor start to the season as they languish in the bottom half of the table. On Sunday Aston Villa lost away at Wolves 2-1 in the midlands derby & Manchester United won comfortably 3-1 at home to Brighton to move United up to 7th in the table.
