Christian writers in the Press Service International program with Christina Today were recently invited to a Secondary College for their annual Book Week.
Their aim was to inspire the next generation of Christian writers and encourage students to use their communication skills to express their faith.
Despite Covid lockdown, Waverley Christian College Melbourne, invited CTA writers, Travis Barnes, David Goodwin and Kelly Thompson to share about the way their faith is expressed through writing.
Each author explained their journey into writing and the way their God-given gifts are used to express themselves through writing. From Marvel comics, to poetry to sports journalism the CTA writers gave many examples of the way literacy can be used.
Their talks and workshops were part of Waverley Christian College’s annual Book Week. Head of English, Sylvia Ponnusamy, explained their theme was “Old worlds, new worlds and future worlds” encouraging student’s literacy skills to explore new worlds.
Students were encouraged to explore how writing can open these new experiences.
The invitations to the Christian Today Australia writers are an acknowledgement of the impact the these Press Service International writer program has had on the Christian community and the vision of Rev. Dr. Mark Tronson to invest and equip a new generation of Christian writers.
