The young writer ministry - Press Service International - (PSI) - initiated in 2009 with young people published in Christian Today - found itself in a quandary.
In the early years it was no problem sending emails with the daily articles - it was a compact group - with 30 young people.
Over the years now with 120 writers the email footprint grew to
Daily PSI articles
Thurs Weekly young writer memo
Sun News
Special announcements
Annual Award memos
Some weeks there were 10 Emails - undoubtedly all important, all critical for some aspect of the young writer program - but now with 120 writers - it has become a major headache.
NZ Initiation
Mussita Ng the Kiwi young writer program administrator alerted the young writer Brain’s Trust that for many Kiwis it was becoming unbearable.
The correspondence on this matter was at record level and we sought wisdom - the Brain’s Trust agreed and so over Easter - put together a revised email distribution scenario.
A fresh dynamic – initiated last week
One email (Friday) with week’s young writer articles
A monthly young writer memo instead of weekly
Sun News dropped
The long standing Sunday E-Blast was to have been optional but it proved to be the way the young writers link into Well-Being Australia (overarching ministry) which raises the ministry funding to see each young writer published.
Outcome
The program has three ministry ‘administrator’ role people
Rebecca Moore - Australia
Mussita Ng - New Zealand
Ashea West - Internationals
They are ones who send out the emails - their tasks have now been greatly reduced. The response has been admirable.
Other Emails
There remains those essential email communication for each young writer – such as
(1) sending in their BEST article for the annual awards.
(2) newsy bits for each group above
(3) special announcements such a fund raising for projects
For day to day purposes - the young writer email congestion has been reduced by 97%.
Question - see us in 12 months as ascertain whether we have survived without mass emails.
