With the 2022 young writer program now well under way this seems a good time to announce some young writer highlights.
The Week Coordinators are the springboards to the young writer program. These are the critical people who send the ‘reminders, to each of their young writer contingent for their due date.
Nothing much has changed from last year. Many of the young writers have no idea what a due date is. No, it’s not the time they pick up their girl / boy friend for a date. No, it’s not on a shopping list for your mum, a packet of dates.
Well, what is it?
If it’s none of the above – a due date – is when a young writer is to have sent in their article to the coordinator.
Honesty is the best policy. In Cycle 1 one young writer was travelling in the US with her dad who was on business. Sorry, I forgot!
The coordinators are critical to the program.

Editors
The editors are sent the articles by the coordinators and once edited and checked and photos collated - they send the finished week’s package to their Stand Alone.

The Stand Alone persons’ receive the package of articles and forwards them to Christian Tody for the following week’s publishing - giving CT time to engage in a further check and edit.

A thorough schedule
This provides a thorough agenda from the young writer - to the coordinator - to the editor and photo selector - to the Stand Alone.
The time frame for all this - the coordinators send their reminders - 10 days to the due date, 5 days then the day of the due date (the Friday). Then there is from the Friday to the following Thursday for the editing, photo selection and Stand Alone.
Worked well since 2009 - the volunteer win-win young writers - the only snag are late articles. We’re looking for additional 18-30 year olds - contact - timeout@bushorchestra.com
