Global Care, the social justice and disaster relief arm of International Network of Churches (INC), is working through Empower Church in Penrith, NSW, to help victims recover from the recent bushfires in NSW.
Thanks to support from Network Communications, Global Care will be able to continue to give practical help to people affected by the recent disaster, including the purchase of disaster relief equipment for a recently donated trailer.
"We can't thank Network Communications enough for stepping in and partnering with us in this disaster, " said Global Care National Coordinator Sarah-Jane Meeson.
"We have been able to give help to families and individuals in need, ranging from replacing work tools so victims can return to work, to providing supermarket vouchers for victims to buy essential groceries.
"Our ongoing relationship with Westpac is also greatly appreciated at this time, and Global Care will work with local Westpac Branch Managers to help the Blue Mountains community over the coming months".
Global Care is the founder and organizer of National Others Week (NOW), which started last Sunday, a week committed to spreading the message of kindness and thanking those who serve others.
Global Care's National Director, Peter Pilt, said last year's National Others Week had surpassed all expectation, and this year was shaping up to be even bigger, with groups participating in Australia, the UK, Scotland, Serbia, Fiji and New Zealand.
"Kindness is the manifestation of goodness within humanity. Kindness has an immense power to bring out the good in the character of others.
"It doesn't matter whether your act of kindness is large or small, personal or corporate – as long as it is from the heart, and helps someone else.
"We are so grateful to Westpac and Network Communications for catching the spirit of National Others Week, and helping Global Care," he said.
Individuals and groups wishing to participate can go to wwww.nationalothersweek.com to register, download posters and "kindness" cards, or can also go to Facebook (National Others Week), Twitter (@OthersWeek) and YouTube (NationalOthersWeek).
