One of the oldest Christian churches in Massachusetts held its final worship service on Sunday, as a result of 'dwindling attendance and financial concerns'.
Trinity Church in Waltham was established in 1820, and has been a part of the community for several generations. The white stone church on Main Street is almost 200 years old, and has been included in the National Register of Historic Places.
According to the report by Boston Globe, the final service was an emotional one for its church members.
Rev. Allen Batchelder presided the final service, which was reported to be 'very emotional'.
In the report, a member of the church recalls being baptized there 39 years ago. Another mentioned that the closing of Trinity Church will leave a 'hole' in his life.
In spite the closure of Trinity Church, the church will remain a worship place for another church.
The New Light Korean Church will reportedly take over the premises after renting for most of its existence in the community.
