On Sunday the 4th of February, Cory Bernardi and Lyle Shelton met in Towoomba for a special announcement. The former head of the Australian Christian Lobby was now taking over the federal communications director in the Australian Conservative Party.
Bernardi started out the address by stating how he started the party twelve months ago this week. He told us how he was looking for a better way, and that Australians desired changed but didn’t know where to find it.
When Lyle Shelton took the stage he strongly stated how important faith is and that the Judeo-Christian values that this country was founded on cannot be ignored.
Of the Conservatives party he praised Cory Bernadi in creating what people said “couldn’t be done”.
He talked about when he was just starting out in politics, in Towoomba where he grew up, and the lessons he learned about keeping a strong foundation.
After the press announcement, Cory fielded a question and answer exclusively for Australian Conservative Party members.
During the Q&A session one man asked how they accept atheists into the party. Cory reiterated the importance of all Australians acknowledging the Judeo-Christian foundation of this country and what it represents.
He commented that the party accepts members of any faith group, or non-faith group which accepts the Australian Conservative principles.
Lyle has reentered the political foray because he believes that Christians have to fight for their principles to be recognized in all facets of Australian life. If Christians can stand unified in the public sphere and the political realm, they might just be paving “A Better Way”.
