All hopes are on flight AirAsia QZ8501 as families and relatives of the passengers 'surrender' it all to God as search and retrieval operations go on.
Though the families have been grieving on the first day of the year, as news reports that bodies were seen floating near Borneo, Pastor Philip Montofa prayed with the families, "Help us, God, to move forward, even though we are surrounded by darkness."
About 40 members of Pasto Montofa's church were included in the passengers of flight 8501. Many of the passengers were Indonesians with a Chinese Christian decent.
The pastor went on saying, "Some things do not make sense to us, but God is bigger than all this. Our God is not evil," while singing "I Surrender All."
Out of 162 passengers of the AirAsia flight, only seven bodies were recovered, while search and retrieval operations continue despite of the poor weather conditions.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo halted traditional New Year celebrations on the country's second largest city due to this tragic incident and as respect to the families of the passengers.
Meanwhile, AirAsia's CEO Tony Fernandes reported that the plane's main fuselage was not located by sonar. He stated, ""There's lots of rumors going around and, until we have official confirmation, what we've heard is all speculation," Fernandes told reporters. "There is no sonar, nothing. There's some visual identification, but nothing confirmed."
