A church in southern Indiana included in the state's top 10 most endangered buildings earlier this year, was recently taken off the list.
The First Baptist Church in West Baden Springs, which is almost hundred years old, has been bought by the Southeastern District Association of the Indiana Missionary Baptist State Convention for just $1 in order to push plans on renovating it.
According to the report by The Daily Herald, the association will raise funds in order to begin the rehabilitation of the church building, which was built back in the 1920s.
Jeff Lane, a member of a local historical society, states that it will take approximately US$200,000 in order to fully rebuild the historic place of worship.
As for the Baptist group, it will seek not only the rehabilitation, but also re-open the church once more to Baptists in the locality.
In the report, the First Baptist Church is located 40 miles south of Bloomington. It is currently included in the National Register of Historic Places.
