Broken World
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John chapter 16 verse 33). The perfect world that Elohim created has become cold and broken, and because of sin, man’s heart has become viciously wicked.
A few days ago, as I sat to watch the local news, tears ran down my cheeks. Everyday another brutal murder is committed, or another headline about a child missing or child being abused. Just like that, lives are being destroyed.
There are so many people living in fear and terror because they do not know what to expect next. Will we be okay? Are our families safe? How can mankind be so cruel to one another? What happened to conscience? Where is the fear and reverence for Almighty God?
It is easy for fear to creep in. Personally, I have to keep reminding myself that God is with me. He is always watching over me, and there are angels encamped around me wherever I go. As long as I remain faithful to God. He will take care of me.
Worst will come
According to 2 Timothy chapter 3 verses 1-5 “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God having a form of godliness but denying its power.’’
The distress we face in this world from natural disasters to crimes committed by mankind, reminds us that things will get worse before it gets better. The truth is, the brokenness of this world will not be mended until Jesus Christ returns and puts an end to sin once and for all.
Our duty now is to continue to be faithful and live as light; to get down on our knees and intercede for our unsaved families, friends and nation at large so that they will see the need to accept Jesus in their hearts and live for him before it is too late.
The Greater Joy
As I meditated on John chapter16, the Lord revealed to me that the joy that we will experience in eternity cannot be compared to what we are facing now. This gave me so much comfort. Eternity is the ultimate goal, a goal that no one can take away from us, if we remain faithful to the very end.
John chapter 16 verse 21-22 “A woman when she is in labour, has pain because the time to give birth has come, but when she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers anguish because of her joy that a child has come into the world, so for now you are in grief, but I will see you again and then your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away from you your great joy”.
So yes, the world is cold, man's heart is wicked, but God has a divine plan. For those who have lost loved ones due to various tragedies, there is hope. Jesus promises great joy that no one can take away. Revelation chapter 21 verse 4 “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
And at last, the perfect world that Yahweh created will be restored.
