A controversial Catholic priest has just announced that he is not in favour of the re-election of incumbent Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to Sun News Online, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, spiritual director of the Adoration Ministries in Enugu, stated in his sermon that he wants Pres. Jonathan to quit office.
Mbaka also urged churchgoers to vote for presidential candidate General Muhammad Buhari instead of the current head of the country who will attempt a consecutive term in February.
"The continuity of Jonathan means disaster to Nigeria", says the priest.
Rev. Mbaka also cited some of the most common problems Nigeria is facing at the moment, most of which include the security and safety of its citizens.
Before the year ended, a group of more than 200 students were kidnapped by terrorist group Boko Haram. The priest said it just goes to show that the President cannot guarantee the safety and welfare of Nigerians.
However, this was not the original stand of Rev. Mbaka.
A couple months ago when first lady Mrs. Jonathan attended one of the priest's sermons, the controversial preacher commended the president's work.
"You and your husband have done well, even in the midst of distractions", he said. "They are distracting you so that you do not achieve much. You have done well with all these distractions. What if there were no distractions?"
