'Chicago P.D.' and 'Chicago Fire' will see a new cross-show pairing in the upcoming season.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the NBC drama series franchise will unite Chicago Fire's Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Chicago P.D.'s Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda).
Dick Wolf's Chicago franchise is known for its spinoffs and cross-over practices.
Executive producer Matt Olmstead revealed further details about the developments.
"It started to gain some traction because of the actors," he told EW. "There's plenty to play in terms of the May-December version of Brett to Antonio — his character has a couple kids, he's divorced, no way should he be with this woman, but she's had her heart broken. She's looking for a real man, he qualifies. He's looking for a real soul, a real heart, and she qualifies."
Chicago Fire features the story of a group of firefighters dealing with their personal and professional issues. It's first spin-off, Chicago P.D. deals with uniformed cops. The second spin-off is named Chicago Med.
Sylvie and Antonio are not the first couple to be hit by the cross-show cupid, as before them, other characters—to be precise, two, from both the shows also hooked up leading a marriage in one case.
Olmstead revealed that they like the concept of inter-show romance, adding that scheduling wise its hard, but it does work out.
Also, teasing Antonio's sister's reaction to the relationship, the executive producer said, "In the middle of it you have his sister, who works with Brett."
"So far it's been playing really well for us, but there will be little brush strokes as we go along. We'll see where it goes," he adds.
Chicago P.D.Season 4 will premiere on Wednesday, September 21 at 10 p.m. ET, while the fifth season of Chicago Fire debuts on Tuesday, Oct, 11 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
