With Covid causing havoc across much of the UK, the premier league has not been immune. With more games behind postponed daily as new cases reach new records daily. The Premier league are now doing daily tests to ensure the health and safety of the Premier league. However, this in turn is causing many delays.
Man City On Top
Manchester City’s squad rotation and depth resulted in 11 goals with no defensive blips in 2 games. Firstly, embarrassing Leeds 7-0 at home followed up on the weekend with a 4-0 away win in Newcastle. These results have put City back on top of the league. City’s lead has now stretched to 3 points over main rivals Liverpool, and, 6 points ahead of Chelsea.
Frustration for Liverpool and Chelsea
Both Chelsea and Liverpool suffered frustration as they both dropped points on Sunday. Chelsea travelled to the midlands and faced a stern test away at Wolves. The match was scoreless however plenty of drama. The draw sees Chelsea 6 points behind City. Liverpool travelled to Spurs hoping to capitalize on their impressive run of form- however a late red card didn’t help their cause as Spurs scored with 15 min to go to take home a share of the spoils and leave Liverpool 3 points behind leaders City,
Arsenal v Leeds
The only other weekend fixture saw Arsenal and Leeds face off at Ellen road. Both teams with many notable absence’s played their youth players. This resulted in an entertaining fixture in the rain.
The gunners return to form has been pleasing for their fans and they continued their impressive resurgence with a 4-1 away win and maintain 4th position. Their youngsters didn’t disappoint with Arsenal now dreaming of a top 4 finish. Leeds on the other hand are in trouble only 2 positions outside the drop zone.
