A lot of Homeland fans are still missing Sergeant Nicholas Brody, a major character from the show's seasons 1 to 3, and apparently, even the show's lead actress Claire Danes is reeling from his departure.
"I really miss Damian," Danes admitted to E! correspondent Ryan Seacrest during the Golden Globe awards.
Lewis' character had been killed off in a major plot twist in season 3, and the actor who plays him has taken a more kingly now that he will portray the infamous King Henry VIII of England in the 10-episode BBC series Wolf Hall.
"It was a major reset and it was daunting for all of us," Danes said about Brody's exit from the show. "I really miss Damian. I loved working with him... he was such a central part of the show."
It was a big challenge for Homeland writers to tackle a new storyline after the death of Brody, but they managed to pull it off. Danes praised the show for "reinventing itself" in season 4.
Danes plays CIA agent Carrie Mathison in Homeland, a relentless worker who unfortunately suffers from bipolar disorder. While she has lost her on-screen flame, it seems like her character is now ready to move on to a new love interest.
In the season 4 finale, she shared an intimate kiss with fellow CIA agent Peter Quinn, played by Rupert Friend. And it's possible that the two will get closer next season, according to Showtime President David Nevins.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nevins said that Danes and Quinn might start a relationship in Season 5.
"Clearly, Quinn has had feelings for Carrie for a long time," Nevins said. "I don't want to speculate too much... my preference is that I'm not into the artificially elongated 'will they or won't they.' If you want to do it, go for it. Don't be cute."
