A former atheist journalist, who is now a Christian book author, has called for a widespread promotion of evangelism in the United States.
According to the report by The Blaze, writer Lee Strobel has teamed up with Houston Baptist University in order to hold an event that would expose the real state of Christianity in America.
In the report, Strobel believes that 'skepticism is rising' in the US, and is resulting in non-belief and atheism in the country. The author said that this might be attributed to churches nowadays giving least priority to sharing the gospel of salvation.
Author of over 20 Christian books, Strobel has worked with the Baptist college to create a new program, the Center for American Evangelism, that would bring back the focus of churches and Christians to evangelism.
"We are facing a crisis in America. Skepticism is rising. Too many young people are leaving the faith. Few Christians are able to effectively share Jesus with others," Strobel said in an interview.
"At many churches, reaching spiritually lost people falls to the bottom of their priorities. This is a crisis we need to confront — urgently!"
In the report, Strobel will be working with other authors in order to encourage more Christians to share the gospel effectively, as mentioned in Matthew 28:18-20.
One of the classes in the program which is entitled "Evangelism: The Unexpected Adventure" would allow students to become more effective in sharing Christ to others.
