The forces of evil have heightened across the world. This is evident in the increased violence, injustice, immorality and the hatred mankind has towards what is just and true. People are dying, families are hurting and many might ask,“God, Where are you?”
God is right here, extending his mercy, grace and divine comfort every day. We have to truly believe and trust him with our whole hearts. We have to know that no matter how terrible this world gets, Abba has ultimate control and will act in His timing. He has a plan, one day all the sin, hurt and pain of this life will be no more. This is our hope.
Where are you?
The prophet Habakkuk (Habakkuk chapters 1 and 2) also had many concerns about what was going on in his society. There was violence and corruption around him. At the time prostitution was brought into the temple, and children were sacrificed to pagan gods. There was political chaos, and threats of war. Evil was prevailing; and Habakkuk needed answers.
God’s answer to Habakkuk is the same for us today. He is in control and will judge every man for all they have done. So let us live knowing that our creator already has the victory.
1stPeter chapter 5, verse 8 reads “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” The enemy knows his time is short so he will do everything to turn man's heart away from God.
Yes, evil continues to prevail in this world, and that’s because of choices. We all have free will, some of us choose to devote our lives to God while others choose to stay in darkness. Nevertheless, this does not change the sovereignty of God. He remains the omnipotent and omniscient God of the universe.
There are many questions we do not have the answers to and so we trust God because he knows exactly what he is doing.
Having God makes the difference
It’s an amazing feeling to be a child of the Most High God. Even when the world is falling apart, there is always this inner peace and assurance that there is an eternity awaiting. One where there will be no more pain nor death. This peace can only be found in Jesus Christ. Without Him we will be easily overwhelmed by all that is taking place in the world.
If you are reading and you have not yet accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour, I encourage you to do so while you still have breath. He makes living in this broken world a whole lot better. You will know without a doubt that He is always by your side even when you go through the toughest of storms.
