Things are set to heat up between Jessica Jones and her friend Trish when Marvel's 'Jessica Jones' Season 2 returns. The pair have maintained a very special bond in the show since season one of the series.
The executive producer of the web television series, Melissa Rosenberg, in an interview with EW expressed her wish to explore the relationship between Jessica and Trish in a greater depth than seen in the earlier season.
"I'm interested in continuing to explore the relationship between Trish and Jessica. That is the core relationship in the piece. It is about female friendship, it is about how friends evolve — they're sisters, really — and it's about how they evolve and ping off each other," she said.
"I'm interested in relationships, whether they be romantic, or family, or friends, or professional — that's what's interesting to me, is Jessica in relationship to people."
Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter, for a time being was Jessica's love interest.
The showrunner has not revealed much about the plot of the show, as Jessica will be starring in Marvel's crossover show 'The Defenders', but it is quite understandable that after the action-packed ending of season 1, the bond between Jessica and Trish will ensue in a new and deeper way.
Rosenburg also revealed that though the girls are like sisters, there is no end of possibilities in projecting their relationships.
"A lot of people saw [romance] in their relationship. Honestly, I love that people are seeing that. I'm fine with that. It's not what interests me about their relationship. To me, it's about their history, and their trust and connection," she said.
Netflix renewed Jessica Jones for a second season in January 2016., with filming set to begin in 2017.
