Archaelogists may have found the actual temple where Jesus taught in Israel, a recent report revealed.
According to ABC News, the archaelogists have made the discovery in the ancient town of Magdala, known to be Mary Magdalene's hometown. Some scholars believe that Jesus spent most of his life in the area.
In 2009, a Catholic group, Legionaires of Christ bought a land in the area, and the organisation reportedly wanted to build a hotel. However, while the vicinity has been digged for the laying of foundation, workers unearthed an ancient temple.
And now, after five years, archaelogists are convinced that this is the exact temple where Jesus Christ taught.
"Jesus was traveling many times with the boat, the fishermen and for sure I think he taught in that synagogue," said Father Juan Solana, founder of the Magdala Center.
"We can see Jesus surrounded by the people sitting on the benches of the synagogue, reading the Torah."
In the report, some of the ancient relics discovered include mosaic floor with intricate designs, a 'limestone block carved with a menorah', and ritual baths for the early Jews.
Some of the relics are reportedly going to be delivered to the Vatican for the pope to see.
Meanwhile, both archaeological and construction work are on-going on the site, with almost 12 acres of land still unsearched for historic artefacts.
