Two years ago it was announced that the boards of Morling College Sydney and Baptist Churches Western Australia would see a merger of their seminaries.
The announcement was made with great excitement, a heart of expectation, and a deep sense of mission that Morling College and Vose Seminary have agreed to merge, creating one of the largest theological colleges in the Southern Hemisphere.
This decision followed many months of discussion, prayer, and seeking God for guidance and wisdom
Both colleges had an amazing history, built from a vision to provide transformative education so that students are equipped not only for ministry but for life. Both have been responsible for training many of today’s church leaders, missionaries and Christian leaders over decades
The announcement is a continuation of this vision for both colleges. We believe we are stronger together, and we can achieve more as one. The newly combined college will enable all students and staff to access greater resources, better facilities, and more expertise
Our call is both national and global, and we must think larger to meet the needs of an ever-changing world. The Australian Baptist tertiary education vision is to 'provide world-class tertiary education from a Christian worldview, working together with God to form men and women for ministry and promote a flourishing society.'
They believed all who are a part of Morling College and Vose Seminary will join us to embrace the future and thank God for blessing us with this opportunity, but we also understand that there will be questions.
Therefore, we will be providing regular information over the coming months to students, faculty, staff, churches, and the wider community. Our leaders will also be available to provide specific information where possible, and to build upon communication to date
It was stated they were humbled to be used by God to see his plans and purpose come to fruition, and our goal is always to honour him. Thanks for being on this journey. Once this historic agreement is formally approved and finalised at the Baptist Churches Western Australia Assembly AGM in October 2020, we will be able to better impact the world with the Gospel of Christ.
We can report that this has worked far beyond anyone’s expectation. All involved have ensured 100% contribution to see it succeed.
