During his message in Vatican for the 48th World Day of Peace, the Pope Francis placed great emphasis on the church as a prerequisite in having faith in Christ.
According to the report by Asia News, the pope placed a hierarchy for Catholics to follow - Jesus Christ, Mary, and the 'Holy Mother Church'.
In his sermon, the pope emphasised the importance of being a part of the church in order to fully have a relationship with the person of Jesus Christ.
In the report, Pope Francis added that it is impossible to 'belong to Christ...outside the Church'.
"Christ and his mother are inseparable, just as inseparable are Christ and the Church, because the Church and Mary always go together (and this is the mystery of women in the church community) and one cannot understand salvation brought by Jesus without considering the Church's motherhood", the pope said.
The pope warned that without the Church, a relationship and faith in Jesus would only solely lie on a person's imagination, interpretation, and mood. Without the Holy Mother Church, God's only Son would become just an idea, feeling or moral teaching.
Pope Francis ended his message in a call for the audience to shout 'Holy Mother of God' three times, praying that Mary would intercede in order to bring peace throughout the world.
