How long have you walked for? A day? A couple of hours?
What about walking from Melbourne to Sydney?
Dr. Prabdoh Malhotra
Right now as you read this there is a very kind and generous man walking from the MCG to the SCG, for the McGrath Foundation. His name is Dr. Prabodh Malhotra. I met him at my local gym. Dr. Malhotra (Phd) is a spritely kind 70 year old who always ready with a smile.
When a 70 year old tells you of his endeavour to walk to the SCG to raise money for the McGrath Foundation, you ask questions. Yes Dr. Malhotra is fit, fitter than me. With assistance of Chris the Exercise Physiologist Dr. Malhotra has prepared for this arduous task.
Another question is why? When inquiring why Dr. Malhotra was walking to raise money for the McGrath Foundation was there a reason? No tragedy, no family survivor story. It appears that you can just do good because it is a good thing to do.
Selfless Devotion
At the gym Dr. Malhotra has been very matter of fact about this epic journey. In his media release Dr. Malhotra names Swami Niranjan’s “selfless devotion” as an inspiration for this journey. He continues in the media release with further inspiration from...
“...French author Stephen Grellet who said, “I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow-creature, let me do it NOW, let me not defer or neglect it." As a 70-year-old retiree, this may be my last chance to make a small contribution for a noble cause.”
At the time of writing Dr. Malhotra has been walking for 43 days. According to his blog on https://www.prabodhmalhotra.com/ he has made it to Moss Vale, NSW. That is 124kms from Sydney. It means that since November 13 2022, Dr. Malhotra has already walked approximately 750kms.
He should arrive at the SCG for Jane McGrath Day on the 6th of January. The goal is to raise one million dollars for the McGrath Foundation. A hefty number but one that has been well walked and will be well deserved. Please, if you can donate to the McGrath Foundation and support Dr. Malhotra’s effort. https://fundraise.mcgrathfoundation.com.au/fundraisers/prabodhmalhotra/walk-from-mcg-to-scg
Phillip Hall has been too long in Melbourne to see AFL in the same light as those back in Fremantle. East Fremantle born and bred, he would love to see the Dockers back in the eight. But would settle for just beating West Coast twice a year.
