Jeff Vanderstelt, founding pastor of the Soma Tacoma church, produced a series of 24 videos that aim to teach leadership skills to Christians.
Each of the videos are about half an hour long. Examples are videos titled "How to Form a Missional Community to Men & Women in MC Leadership to Spirit Dependence"
"We've already heard reports that large churches and small families alike are using this resource to become more equipped in disciple-making," said a Soma press release online.
Vanderstelt and Soma Tacoma also released another video training series called the "Missional Community Church Realities". The 15 episodes are shorter than the first series, each video ranging from a few minutes to 17 minutes long. The episodes attempt to cover topics such as "The Purpose of the Sunday Gathering" and "The Role of Gospel Shepherding and Multiplying Missional Communities."
A third series that lay Christians will find useful is called the "Ordinary People" series. Laypeople can find 29 videos full of stories and tips given by experienced teachers. The videos aim to have "everyday people doing ordinary, everyday things with gospel intentionality."
The video series may be purchased online with an individual/family license or with a church/organisation license.
The contents of the video series are in line with the main mission statement of Soma Tacoma that states, "The motivation for our vision, and how we structure and form all we do derives from the gospel as our foundation. We must get the flow right. We first start with God, who has most clearly and powerfully revealed himself in Jesus Christ (Gospel). From Jesus only, we rightly learn who we are, both, as individuals and as a community (Identity). Knowing who Jesus is, and who we are in light of Him, we then know how we ought to live. "
