So with a gospel themed song titled "Into the Water" it would be safe to say that the song has some sort of baptism reference, and in this case you would be correct.
There's no greater love for mankind than the Heavenly Father has shown, by offering up his beloved son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to be sacrificed for our sins.
This amazing demonstration of obedience to the Heavenly Father by our Lord Jesus Christ to suffer and be put to death, has provided so many benefits for those of mankind that are prepared to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their saviour and follow him.
This song only touches on some of the benefits that we gain through baptism such as; being born again / anew (born from above), to clear our conscience ( being freed from sin (forgiveness of our past sins and to remove the condemnation), the opportunity of eternity (having our names written in the book of life), repentance (to change our thinking) and be able to renew our life (by following the example of our Lord Jesus Christ).
The greatest opportunity anyone can be offered is when we have lived in this world and experienced so many ups and downs to then come to that point in your life and say "if I could only have my life over again, I'd do things different", well you don't know how prophetic those words are. Because thanks to our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ that is exactly what they have provided and as mentioned so many other benefits, as well as eternal life.
I hope you enjoy the song (Into the Water) and I have provided a relevant scripture to consider and an image.
Romans 6:1-11
1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?
2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?
3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we now walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
6 We know that our old self was put to death with him so the sinful body is destroyed, and we are no longer enslaved to sin.
7 For he who has died is freed from sin.
8 But if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him.
9 For we know that Christ being raised from the dead will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.
10 The death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.
11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
