Stranger Things, the thrilling Netflix-original drama series, is expected to be renewed for a sophomore season. The spooky series' plot will also feature a one year time leap which is already giving fans major chills.
The nostalgia-driven series features a group of kids from the 80's in their small town which captivated audience's attention and made them wonder whether, at the end of the first eight episodes of season 1, they will get a second season.
Though not officially confirmed by Netflix, an announcement is reportedly right around the corner as audiences laud the show.
According to IGN, the show's creator Matt Duffer revealed that the second season will jump a year in time, citing the cast's young age as a problem for the continuity of the show.
"Yeah, you have to do the Harry Potter thing," he said, adding that Gaten's (Dustin) voice had already dropped quite a bit.
"They will be a year older, and all their changes they're going through, we will take into account and kind of work that into the show," he added.
His brother Ross, the show's co-creator, also stated that the jump will open up more possibilities for the second season.
Matt Duffer also gave rise to speculation that the entire cast from season one, might not feature in the second. He indicated that he refers to the follow-up as a "sequel" and not "second season."
The show was released on Netflix on July 15, 2016.
