Fans can expect an emotional rollercoaster ride in The Blacklist season 4, according to the showrunner Jon Bokenkamp.
In an interview with Digital Trends, Bokenkamp talked in detail about the NBC crime thriller series, and its upmoging fourth season, which he describes as a "very adrenalized emotional rollercoaster."
"In a way, these people who have worked so closely together and have kind of become a family are going to have to somehow find it within themselves to move forward. It's going to be a blast," he said
Debuting on September 23, 2013, The Blacklist stars James Spader as Raymond "Red" Reddington, a former U.S. Navy officer turned high-profile criminal who voluntarily surrenders to the FBI after playing the cat-and-mouse chase game for years.
The new season is expected to reveal more about the mysterious Alexander Kirk, who dropped a bombshell in the season 3 finale by kidnapping Liz and revealing that he is her father. Meanwhile, Bokenkamp also teased that fans will learn "more about Red."
"We're getting closer and closer to understanding him, and the 'Cape May' episode was a good example of that. But he's still somewhat of an enigma to us - and that is part of what makes the show fun," he said, while also revealing that Liz and Red's relationship will also be explored.
At the same time, there are rumors about Liz's mother Lotte Verbeek a.k.a Katarina Rostova making an appearance. Bokenkamp told Entertainment Weekly that "they will use picture and fragments memory of Katarina."
Spinoff series The Blacklist: Redemption is set for a midseason release and will star Famke Janssen as Susan Scott "Scottie" Hargrave, and her son Ryan Eggold as Tom Keen.
Season 4 of 'The Blacklist' is set to premiere on September 22.
