Are you feeling overwhelmed or anxious about tomorrow? Are you worried about the pandemic and everything else that is going on? Perhaps, most importantly - are you worried about the safety of your family and friends?
Despite the many challenges we have faced since the beginning of this year, I want to remind you that as Christians we are not without hope. Jesus himself said, “cast all (not some) your cares on me, because I care for you”.
While meditating on Matthew chapter 11 verses 29-30 several days ago, I found myself in awe of the many blessings Jesus has bestowed upon us. Jesus calls us to take on his yoke. He knew we could not do this life alone; in our own strength we would never make it and so he offered himself for us.
God of his word
Yahweh is true and just, there is no lie in him. We have to remain faithful and believe that he is a God of his words. Let us trust him with our lives. Jesus said he is our good shepherd and we have to believe that. Like a shepherd takes care of his sheep and makes sure they have good pasture and are well protected, so does Jesus take care of his children. He is our comforter, protector, healer, burden bearer and so much more. All that we need for life is in him.
Comforter
A few weeks ago, I was feeling down. Regardless of how I felt I knew that there were still many things to be thankful for. I prayed to God about how I was feeling and immediately there was a change. He revealed to me multiple scriptures to meditate on, and I did. I was comforted by the Holy Spirit and the peace of God overwhelmed me.
This encounter reminds me of when Jesus stilled the storm in the gospel of Mark chapter 4 verse 39. Jesus was asleep on a ship with his disciples when a great storm arose in the sea. The ship was covered with water, tossing to and fro. The disciples were fearful, thinking they were going to die on that ship, they called out to Jesus. When Jesus got up, he said three words “Peace be still”, immediately the wind ceased and there was calm.
It does not matter what situations we are faced with, if we bring our problems to Jesus, he will take care of us. Nothing is too big or too small for him to handle. He will always be our comforter; in him we will always find peace.
Source
We are constantly reminded to let our faith be bigger than our fears. Jesus promised us that he will take care of us and supply all our needs. In Matthew chapter 6 Jesus reminds us that the birds of the air neither sow nor reap, but he feeds them! The lilies of the field are beautifully designed, he clothed them. If he takes care of the birds and the flowers, he will take care of us, his sons and daughters. He knows all our deepest needs and he will attend to them according to his riches in glory and according to his will. All we have to do is seek him, walk uprightly and trust him with our tomorrows.
Consider the journey of the children of Israel through the wilderness, Jehovah Jireh attended to their needs. He provided bread from heaven and water from a rock! There is nothing impossible for the Lord Almighty.
Healer
Jesus is the great physician, Luke chapter 4 verse 40 “At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them.”
The woman with the issue of blood mentioned in the gospels also got her healing after 12 long years by simply extending her faith and touching the hem of his garment.
Jesus is still healing today, if you have a condition that needs healing keep holding on, do not lose hope. God works in his timing according to his will. And even if things do not go the way we hope, he is still God. God is unsearchable, there are things that we do not have answers for, we just have to trust and believe that “All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans chapter 8 verse 28).
Be encouraged, the angels of the Lord encamp around those who fear him. An easy life was not promised but we know that our good shepherd will be there to carry us through it all. He will never leave us alone.
If you have not yet submitted your life to Jesus Christ, it is not too late to do so. It is not too late to come and find peace in the midst of chaos.
