Time Before
I’ve written previously about time from a perplexed place questioning its concept. I simply wondered how it applied to and impacted the lives of others.
Today I write about it in appreciation of what it is.
Time Now
Time is such a delicately precious yet fickle commodity. A thing that encapsulates so many moments, yet a thing so temporary.
It’s something the world clamours for, slaughtering ways for quicker production at maximum profit. It’s something for all, yet for some more and others less. It is priceless, yet both expensive and free.
It’s something we crave from the office and something we cradle from the hotel. It’s something hearts ache for and others thrill over its passing. It’s what we desire, what we miss, what we love and what we lose.
And it goes on.
Irreversible Above All
Time is irreversible.
We can’t go back nor alter what’s done. Everything that has led to the moment you’re in now is raw and it is real - an intentional gift of God.
Such purpose in the moment you’re in now and such purpose in the prior. Such purpose in it all.
Purpose on the Path
Proverbs chapter 3, verse 6 reminds us that as Christians we have a choice to acknowledge Him in every aspect of our lives as we walk along the path of which He makes straight.
Not only does this advise our next step, but it reflects our prints left behind.
After all, this truth doesn’t only exist within the fathomable of our faith. God has been leading us down a path whether we ever acknowledged Him or not. The path that’s led you to now was always laid out by Him.
Of course, perhaps a path of pain. Twists. Turns. Moments you wish never happened and others you wish you could change.
But they have, and we can’t. Our path to now has been walked.
A Godly Gift
But through this brokenness beauty is found, in the truest form of what time really is: a Godly creation of Godly intention.
Your present being the most unique gift of all.
Built on a collection of moments, individually as reminders that no single thing can be done to change any of it at all - no matter how much we may wish we could.
A raw gift from God who gives with such purpose, and who joins us in it despite operating from outside it.
Time to Come
Time, a thing of many, for many, yet even then a thing which cannot limit Him.
But a thing of such human fragility. A thing we measure yet miss. A thing we use yearning reverse while wrestling the wrenching of moving forwards.
Yet forwards we must go, along the path He’s laid out for us. A path laid then and walked now.
For, the time that has elapsed has in fact done just that.
And that is why now is the present.
