It breaks my heart every time I see the symbol Yahweh set apart to be a reminder to us of his mercy and faithfulness being stripped of its meaning by society and is now used to celebrate the sins of the flesh. How ironic is that?
It's not okay, no matter how we want to pretty things up. It's evident that the enemy is at work even harder than before, seeking whom he “may” devour with his lies. His plan is and has been to distort every godly moral and values of society, hence as Christians we need to stand up for what we believe and proclaim the truth no matter what.
Deception
Over the years the enemy has subtly pushed his agenda, so much that there are many out there who do not know the truth and are just absorbing all the lies of the enemy. John chapter 8 verse 44 tells us clearly that there is no truth in the devil, “When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it”.
But what really is the truth? What does this beautiful rainbow signify?
The infallible word of Yahweh has the answer.
Background:
In Genesis chapter 6 God saw that the wickedness of mankind was great in the earth, man’s heart was continuously evil toward God, and it was unbearable! It was so bad that God regretted that he created man. He decided to destroy every living thing on the earth and start over. Only one man, Noah, found grace in the eyes of God. He along with his sons and their wives and the specific animals God instructed were allowed in the ark God told Noah to build, and the door was shut.
For 40 days and 40 nights there was rain upon the earth and every living thing that was not inside the ark perished. Several months later the rain from heaven was restrained and a rainbow appeared in the sky.
The meaning of the rainbow:
Genesis chapter 9 verses 12-16 reads, And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
So, whenever we see the rainbow, it's a reminder of God's steadfast love and mercy towards mankind. That's what we should celebrate, the grace, love, and mercy of our God. He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
God’s plan
When I look at the things going on in our nations, the abominable practices, violence, crime, no reverence, awe, or fear for the true and living God (Yahweh), I know we deserve death, but God extends his mercy to us every day and gives us hope of eternal life if we choose to accept, live for and obey him.
Redemption was always God’s plan. John chapter 3 verse 16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Let us not take God’s mercy for granted. And let us always remember, the word of Yahweh stands forever and cannot be changed, it is final!
