Fans can finally take a breath of relief as their favorite Nina Dobrev is all set to return to 'The Vampire Diaries' season 8. But wait, she is not Elena Gilbert anymore. The 27 year old actress will reportedly return as Katherine Pierce in the last season of The Vampire Diaries.
Mike Pedowitz, CW President revealed that the star actress of the show who left in the season 6 is indeed returning in the Mystic Falls. Showrunner Julie Plec had earlier sparked the rumors stating the Let's Be Cops actress have shown interest in reprising her role. Pedowitz has also teased that Plec has "a great finale episode" stored for the fans.
But reportedly, ex-flame Ian Somerhaldar is upset with her return and is in talk with the producers about the role. Rumors suggest that her comeback is making things ugly between him and wife Nikki Reed.
Fans are already wondering the fate of the existing characters Damon, Enzo, Stefan, Caroline, Bonnie and others but Plec has till now revealed details only about Damon.
"Damon has unfortunately become a little bit of a servant to an evil who has an opinion on what should happen to people who do bad things. He's a little bit of a minion at the moment, and we'll have to learn who he's a minion for and why," she teased.
According to Melty, the titles of the 16 episodes would be the same as the season 1 in a move to pay homage to the series. Episode one would be called "Hello, Brother", the second "Today Will Be Different", and third "You Decided That I Was Worth Saving."
The Vampire Diaries Season 8 airs on October 21 on The CW.
