The German Philosopher, Friedrich Hegel once said, “the only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history.” From the Old Testament, we understand that when a nation forsakes God and his ways, judgement is imminent.
The rise of the third Reich- A consequence of forsaking God’s ways
Many still wonder at the atrocities committed by the Nazis during the second world war. Some believe that the Germans who lived at that time were a strange breed of humans that may never exist again. I believe the philosophies propagated by the Nazis shows the depth of wickedness man can display when there is no sense of accountability to God.
In the 19th century, Friedrich Nietzsche, the son of a Lutheran pastor, wrote a bitter assault on Christianity, accusing it of weakness and of being the cause of Germany’s ills. Christianity, he said, with its emphasis on the virtues of mercy and forgiveness made Germany weak. It was Nietzsche who proclaimed that “God is dead.” This demonic philosophy became popular in the 19th century as well as in the 20th century.
Adolf Hitler considered himself the superman of Nietzsche’s philosophy. When accountability to God is erased from a society, the end product is death and destruction. Man without God is capable of the evilest of atrocities.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah chapter 17, verse 9)
Man fell when he wanted to be like God without God. Man will keep falling into deeper levels of darkness as long as he thinks he can be perfected without God.
In an attempt to reject the cross and anything of God, the Nazis adopted the Swastika as their symbol- a caricature of the cross of Christ. Millions of Germans did not suddenly hate the Jews. It was seeds sown by years of demonic philosophies that gave rise to the third Reich. Hitler was a product of a society that rejected God.
The mark of the beast is the number of a man
“Here is wisdom, let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred threescore and six.” (Revelations chapter 13, verse 18)
In Biblical numerology, six is the number of man. The mark of the beast is 666. The beast is the manifestation of the depths of evil in the carnal man. His number is the number of man. I believe Hitler was only a prelude to what the Anti-Christ would be.
The handwriting on the wall
The handwriting on the wall in our generation is plain. It needs no interpretation. The Bible has been taken away from schools, kids are being taught LGBTQ ideologies, the silver screen is filled with all manner of lustful acts, abortion is legalized in many nations, pride is being celebrated as a virtue, common sense is being frowned at as stupidity, morality looks old school.
We live in a do as you like generation. When there is no sense of accountability to God, chaos is inevitable. Are we headed for destruction? Maybe we are. But I believe in the power of redemption. I believe in the power of prayer. If we will humble ourselves and pray, then Babel will fall.
The world has not rejected Christ. They have rejected the Christ we have displayed to them. Jesus is the desire of the nations. The most hardened sinner can be broken with just one encounter with the King.
Our King is returning soon but he will not come till the earth is flooded with his glory. Let us not lie down and wait for the rapture. We are the city on a hill. Arise sons of El Elyon. Shine the light that men may taste heaven’s bliss here on earth.
