Grant Harris is a reformed banker who has been the Senior Pastor of Windsor Park Baptist Church in Auckland, New Zealand, for eleven years. Grant’s passionate about seeing people catch a glimpse of who they are in Christ and living out the difference that makes. He’s tried living according to the patterns of this world and found that those patterns came up short. He’s still a work-in-progress and always will be. • The Beatles were right

In 1967 The Beatles were asked to write a song with a message that could be easily understood by the world. The song was to be broadcast as part of Our World, the first live, international satellite television production ever.

  • Hope in pain

I’m sure not many of us had heard of the small Canadian town of Humboldt; there really isn’t all that much to know about the town of about 6,000 people in the province of Saskatchewan. Yes, Saskatchewan, that’s hard enough to say or point to on a map.

  • Confessions of a Pastor

It’s a funny old life being a pastor in my context. I’m in a denomination that has a historical strength about the value of congregational governance, and yet in today’s world people are saying we need leadership, someone who will come in and cast a powerful vision that will grow the church, as long as the congregation can control the pastor.

  • Stop the hurting

When I was 15-years-old I was bulletproof. I had all the answers to all the questions and no one could tell me otherwise. In particular I knew how to ride motorbikes and how to handle every adverse road condition I might come across.

  • Please don’t send me to India

When I was young[er] our youth group used to put together musicals that we’d share with other churches in the North Island of NZ.

  • Death sucks

A few months ago I was looking through the list of funerals I’ve facilitated in my role as a pastor and noticed the disproportionate amount of people I’ve buried who were aged between 50-55.

  • Courage to change

We all love a rousing Bible Scripture to tweet or post to our social media accounts. They become motivational memes and niceties that help us navigate long winters and bad days.

  • I want to get off the bus

Being obedient to where God wants to lead you in life can sometimes feel like the biggest mistake you’ve ever made.

  • Our target market is …

Having been involved in the world of business prior to entering fulltime pastoral ministry, I’ve been involved in strategic planning processes in multiple diverse organisations.

  • I’m engaged! At last!

The next General Election in New Zealand is coming up on Saturday 23rd September 2017. This is the opportunity that those of us who are 18 years of age or older have to participate in our democratic right to help select those who will govern New Zealand for the next term of three years.
